DAHLONEGA – Despite giving up 29 points in the fourth quarter, the University of North Georgia women’s basketball team defeated UNC Pembroke, 76-53, Sunday afternoon in the back end of a back-to-back weekend.

UNG built up a 62-24 lead through three quarters of action, including holding the Braves to just four points in the third quarter while scoring 22 of their own. The game was never in doubt as the Nighthawks scored the first 11 points and continued on throughout the 40 minutes of action.

NOTES
– Amber Skidgel led UNG with 23 points, hitting five threes in the contest. Julianne Sutton finished one board short of a double-double, tallying 15 points while battling foul trouble. Tamera Thorpe also finished in double figures with 11 points.

– UNG assisted on 21 of 24 buckets with Vanessa Agrusa leading the way with six dimes.

– With the win, the Nighthawks have surpassed 20 wins three years in a row and five of the last six years.

The Nighthawks will play their penultimate road game of the regular season when they travel to Clayton State Wednesday night. Tip time is set for 5:30 p.m.
