DAHLONEGA – For the second straight day, the University of North Georgia men’s basketball team defeated a top-25 team, this time beating No. 21 UNC Pembroke, 82-77, Sunday afternoon in the UNG Convocation Center.

The Braves led only twice in the contest at 2-0 and 32-31, both in the first half. The Nighthawks controlled the defensive end, getting six steals and three blocks while allowing the Peach Belt’s best rebounding team on the offensive glass to just 11 boards and 14 second chance points.

NOTES
– Ephraim Tshimanga was two rebounds short of a triple-double, tallying 21 points and 10 assists in the game. Zez Steeple finished with 15 points, while Shawn Hopkins added 13.

– UNG shot above 50 percent from the floor for a second straight day, including shooting 12-for-23 from beyond the arc.

– The Nighthawks outscored the Braves in the paint and in points off turnovers.

UNG will travel to Clayton State as they look for a third straight win Wednesday night in Morrow. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m.
