(GRAYSON, Ky.) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women’s volleyball team traveled to face Bluefield University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears took down the Rams in three sets, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-21).

In the first set, Bluefield was quick to act with a three point rally (0-3). The Lady Bears were not shaken, responding with a five point rally, featuring kills by Jordan Roberts and Katie Williams, paired with a service ace from Sonya Silecky (9-6). A late four point rally by the Rams attempted to take the lead, but it wasn’t enough as TMU took set one, 25-18. In set two, the Lady Bears gained speed with a kill by Williams (1-0). An early five-point rally by the Rams attempted to give BU a chance until the Lady Bears responded with a five point rally of their own, leaving Bluefield behind in set two, 25-21.

In the third set, Bluefield was first on the board, until back-to-back kills by Ranavia Neal sent TMU ahead. The set remained evenly matched until three final kills by Neal and Williams gave the Lady Bears what was needed to secure the win in set three, 25-21.

Neal led the way with 14 kills, while Williams followed with 12 kills. Roberts had six kills, followed by Silecky with four kills and Rylee Simpson who recorded 29 assists on the day.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Tuesday, September 19, as they hit the road to face Converse University for a non-conference match-up. Match time set for 6:00 p.m.
