KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of North Georgia junior Rachel VanHorn has been named the NCAA Division II Women’s National Player of the Week, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday. It is the first-ever NSCAA national weekly honor for any UNG student-athlete.

VanHorn scored four of the No. 15 Nighthawks’ six goals on the week, putting up nine total points in two wins. She opened with a pair of goals, including the overtime game-winner, in a 3-2 win over Lander and also added an assist on UNG’s first score.

The junior from Marietta then scored the first and third goals in a 3-1 win over Montevallo, running the team’s unbeaten streak to five. VanHorn now leads the PBC with eight goals on the season and 19 points.

The Nighthawks will host Wingate in a high-profile non-conference match tomorrow at 4 p.m., as part of Make-A-Wish Day. Admission to the match is free with donations encouraged to benefit Make-A-Wish Georgia.
