image001_a(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Commissioners has maintained a millage rate of 9.19 from 2008 to 2013 and in 2014 the millage rate was lowered to 9.168. The White County Board of Commissioners wish to maintain the current millage rate of 9.168, however since the rollback rate is lower than the current millage rate – in order to maintain the same millage rate – state law requires the White County Board of Commissioners to advertise, announce a potential tax increase, and hold three (3) public hearings.

Those hearings will be held July 23, at 8:00AM, Monday July 27th at 6:00 PM and Friday July 31 at 8:00 AM. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing at the White County Administration Building located at 1235 Helen Hwy Cleveland.

In a news release from the commissioners it states; During very difficult, unprecedented economic times, the White County Board of Commissioners have maintained or lowered the millage rate. The White County Board of Commissioners works diligently to keep White County’s millage rate as low as possible while providing the necessary services to the ever-growing population and want to stress that their intent is to maintain the current millage rate of 9.168.

The millage rate will be voted on in a called meeting on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 8:15 a.m.
