(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) – Piedmont men’s golf completed play on Tuesday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate.

Piedmont delivered a tied for sixth place finish in the 36-hole event, carding a 308 team score in the final round after opening with a 295 on Monday.

Senior Connor Lane and freshman Doug Gugel led the Lions in the event, with each posting a T-20th finish out of 74 golfers competing.

Lane paced Piedmont in Tuesday’s final round, making three birdies on his way to a 2-over 74.

After posting a spring-best even par 72 on Monday, Gugel slid back with a 6-over 78 on Tuesday but still held onto his top-20.

Adam Rogers delivered a final round 5-over 77 with one birdie as Josh Hebrink gave Piedmont four counting scores in the 70’s with a 7-over 79, also making one birdie on the day.

Eric Penland came home with a non-counting 82.

Huntingdon cruised to the team title, finishing at 5-under par, winning by 10 strokes over Huntingdon’s B Team.

Brett Viator of Huntingdon made it a Hawks sweep, as he claimed the individual title at 8-under par, one stroke ahead of teammate Jack Burr.

Up next, the Lions will tee it up beginning April 15 at the Cochran Collegiate, hosted by Rhodes College in Cordova, Tennessee.
