(DEMOREST, Ga.) – In the final midweek home game of the season, the Piedmont baseball team was unable to score in a 10-0 shutout against Birmingham-Southern.

The Panthers were on the board quickly with a 2-run homerun in the first inning, the first of three 2-run homers they would have in the contest.

The second two run blast came in the fifth inning after a leadoff error to start the frame. BSC put up five runs in the fifth with another two run shot later in the inning to lead 7-0.

The third homerun forced Peyton Irvin from the game after his sixth start of the season.

The Panthers were able to plate two more runs in the seventh and another in the top of the ninth.

Piedmont had a total of seven hits in the game as both Cole Ellis and Trace Cate accounted for two in the 1-2 spot in the order. The Lions stranded eight baserunners in the game while the Panthers left 10.

Up next, the Lions head to Berea for a three game series against the Mountaineers beginning Friday.
