(CLEVELAND) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men’s soccer team hosted (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Bears fought until the very end, but ultimately resulted in a draw, 1-1. TMU sits to a record of 3-1-1, 1-1-1 AAC, while TWU sits to a record of 2-2-3, 2-0-1 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, the Bulldogs did not hold back, taking a shot on goal in the fourth minute, saved by keeper Aleksa Lukic. TMU immediately responded with two shots of their own by Max Farris and Jose Ventura but were unable to connect with the back of the net. The half remained evenly matched with both teams taking chances at goals, but good defense on both sides of the field kept the game scoreless entering halftime, 0-0.
The second half saw TWU take charge first with two shots, both saved by Lukic. Farris once again responded in the 46th minute with a shot but was unable to secure the goal. Eager to take make a move, Ventura took an opportunity in the 59th minute, scoring TMU’s lone goal of the day. The Bulldogs immediately responded in the same minute with a goal of their own to make the score 1-1. A last chance effort by the Bulldogs in the 88th minute attempted to push TWU ahead, but three back-to-back saves by Lukic kept the Bulldogs from coming out on top, finishing the game even at 1-1.
LEADERS
Ventura and Farris led the way taking five shots apiece. Will Fraser-Gray and Oscar Brennan both recorded two shots, while Lucan Yates, Maury Ibarra and Caleb Diaz each took one shot. Keeper Lukic had a stellar performance in goal recording 11 saves on the day.

The Bears will travel to Columbia, S.C. on Wednesday, September 20, to take on AAC opponent Columbia College. Kick-off set for 6:00 p.m.
