(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University women’s soccer team continued their perfect Appalachian Athletic Conference campaign with a 3-0 win over Point University on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Bears (13-1, 10-0 AAC), who are still receiving votes in the latest NAIA national top 25 poll, have now won 10 straight and have yet to lose an AAC regular season game since the 2017 season. TMU has also only allowed two goals throughout all 10 conference games.

Sophomore Sydney League recorded her first assist on the day after finding the feet of fellow sophomore Lydia Williams. After League dribbled through two Point defenders, League found Williams in the box to finish TMU’s first goal past a Point defender’s head and goalkeeper into the net in the first five minutes of the game (1-0). TMU’s second goal was much like the first. League beat two more Point defenders and slipped junior Jennifer McCall the pass that allowed McCall to send the ball into the bottom left corner of the net (2-0).

After the Lady Bears outshot the Skyhawks 10-2 throughout the first 45 minutes of regulation, TMU came out into the second half to outshoot once again 13-1. Nonetheless, junior Tori Wilson netted TMU’s third and final goal of the day on a long shot (3-0) in the 50th minute.

The Lady Bears earned six corner kicks, while the Skyhawks didn’t earn any, and TMU only allowed Point one shot on target.

On the NAIA national stage, the team now ranks fourth in total shutouts (9), 14th in shutouts per game (0.620) and 15th in total goals (47). Individually, League ranks 20th with total assists (8).

Jessica Lanier and Williams each led with four shots, while McCall added three, with two on goal. League and freshmen Madison WrightHaley DavisNadia Basto, and Ashleigh Smitherman, all added two shots apiece. Hope Foster had one save on the day.

Up next, the Lady Bears will be on the road on Saturday, Oct. 19, for Union College. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
