Mr. J.W. “Jay” Cantrell, age 75, of Dahlonega, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021.

Mr. Cantrell was born on August 20, 1945, to the late Hoke and Mattie Belle Burnette Cantrell. He worked as a mechanic for the White County Road Department. Mr. Cantrell spent countless hours in the shop working on his old cars. He loved his old cars, Nascar Racing, and spending time with his son at the dirt track. Mr. Cantrell truly loved his family. He has been a member of Town Creek Baptist Church since August 1960.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Bonnie Cantrell of Dahlonega; children Tad (Amy) Cantrell of Dahlonega, Tracy (Aaron) Wood of Cleveland, Robin Davis of Dahlonega, and Jamie Rider of Dahlonega; sister and brother-in-law Hazel and James Edge; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, January 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Dalton DeLozier and the Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at the funeral home. 

The family asks that anyone attending the visitation or funeral service, to please wear a mask and practice safe social distancing.
