Frances Lorene Conner was born Frances Lorene Brookshire Nov. 2, 1927 in Chicopee, Hall County, GA. She

was the daughter of J. Harvey and Aldie Brookshire. Lorene passed away December 17, 2015 at the age of 88 in

Dahlonega, GA.

Lorene Conner was a resident of Lumpkin County for almost her entire life. She was preceded in death by her

husband of 58 years, Robert Edward Conner, and by her sister, Louise Phillips. Lorene was a diligent and

loving wife to Robert, and mother to their three children. Lorene was a dedicated Christian who was always

ready to share her faith and hope in the coming Kingdom of Jesus Christ. After many years of service Lorene

retired from North Georgia College (now UNG) in 1989. She was best known for being the “voice of North

Georgia” as the switchboard operator. In retirement Lorene enjoyed her family, especially the grandchildren,

growing flowers, cooking and writing poetry. Her family and friends will greatly miss her jovial personality and

unsinkable spirit.

Lorene is survived by her daughter, Donna Thompson, Dahlonega, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Trent and

Linda Conner, Dahlonega, GA; and son, Ken Conner of Hayesville, NC; grandchildren, Forrest and David

Thompson, Jonathon Conner and his wife Jennifer, Angela Barrett and husband, Eric, Michael and Jillian

Conner; great-grandchildren, Payton, Jubilee, and Zoe Barrett. Also surviving is her sister, Gean Sutton of

Dahlonega; and her brother, Jerry Brookshire of Cleveland.

Funeral services for Lorene are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the Banister Funeral Home

Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Charlie Wilson will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Cavender Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Saturday, December 19, 2015

from 6 PM until 8 PM and again on Sunday from 10 AM until 2 PM.
