(Gainesville) — The US Forest Service has announced that firewood permits for the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest are now available for purchase through a new online E-Permit system.
A news release from the service said permits may be purchased by computer or mobile device at any time and eliminates traveling to your local Forest Service office. This new service provides flexibility and convenience for forest users.
To purchase a firewood permit or to learn more about permits and gathering firewood, please visit the USDA Forest Service E-Permit website. Firewood permits will still be available to purchase at local Forest Service offices and participating vendors. The Forest Service will continue to refine and improve the quality of the online permit system and add additional special forest product permits in the future.
