White County Commission Chairman Travis Turner and Tax Commissioner Cindy Cannon (Center) join with others for 9-11 observance

(Cleveland)- On Monday morning the White County Board of Commissioners, Woodmen Life, and other community dignitaries gathered at the new White County Tax Commissioner’s office to commemorate the events of September 11, 2001, and to dedicate a flag to be flown over the new Tax Commissioner’s Office.

The morning started with welcoming remarks from Charlie Thomas with Woodman Life and a prayer by Dr. Phil Weaver, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Cleveland.

Commissioner Terry Goodger raises the American Flag

An American flag was then raised by County Commissioner Terry Goodger, a former United State Marine.

Travis Turner, Chairman of the White County Board of Commissioners, then addressed those in attendance saying, “The raising of this flag serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience of our nation,” Turner continues, “That is why we wanted to take this opportunity to not only commemorate the events of September 11th, but also dedicate the flag that will be flown over our new Tax Commissioner’s Office.”

The flag that will be flown over the new Tax Commissioner’s Office was donated and presented by Woodman of the World.
