AUGUSTA, Ga. | In one of the most impressive streaks in NCAA history, University of North Georgia ace Courtney Poole has been named the Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week for the sixth consecutive week. It is the seventh conference honor this season for Poole and her 15th overall.

Poole continued to re-write the PBC record books in four games last week. The Watkinsville native became the PBC’s All-Time career wins leader with her 125th victory against Columbus State, breaking current UNG assistant Sarah Phillips‘ old mark of 124. She also became the first North Georgia pitcher and only the fourth pitcher in PBC history to surpass 1,000 career strikeouts, which she did in the opener against the Cougars.

The senior’s 1,003 career strikeouts are fourth in the PBC. For the week, she went 4-0 with four complete games, one earned run allowed and 17 strikeouts in 26 innings of work with one walk allowed. The reigning NFCA National Pitcher of the Week, she has more than doubled the number of strikeouts of any other PBC pitcher this season and continues to lead all NCAA divisions with 33 wins.

The eighth-ranked Nighthawks return to action tomorrow, taking on Georgia College in a doubleheader slated for a 1 p.m. start. Both games will be nationally televised on ESPN3.
