(Cleveland)-The White County Board of Commissioners has voted to impose some additional restrictions to their already approved State of Emergency and Emergency Protective Ordinance to help control the spread of COVID-19. The board meeting in a teleconference Thursday afternoon voted to impose additional restrictions that are designed to help with the health situation in the county.
The new restriction call for no new reservations, business or occupancy be allowed beginning at noon Friday, April 3rd for any Motel, Hotel, Inn, Short Term Vacation Rentals, Campgrounds and RV Parks in the county. Those who are not a resident of White County and are in one of the facilities must vacate the premises by noon Saturday, April 4th.
The new restrictions will be in effect until April 13th or unless it is extended. Commission Chairman Travis Turner said it was a difficult decision. The commissioners and other county officials say they have received numerous reports of an influx of people flowing into the area.
Commissioner Terry Goodger said this is necessary because people are not observing the shelter in place orders in their areas.

The following is a press release for White County :
Well when you get sick don’t come to our hospitals . Stay at the one in White County .
Big difference in people needing to go to the hospital and idiots wanting to go to a park or vacation at this time.
What’s your problem? People need to be in their own homes unless they absolutely need to go out for essentials or work.
My first instinct was to lash out at you for your comment. Let’s not be ill-tempered and mean-spirited during this time when we should be helping, caring, understanding, compassionate, considerate and just good towards one another. Try it, you might like it. There is only one person who knows what the outcome of this will be, and I’m leaning on Him to curb my anxieties and keep my mouth and thoughts toward others good, not devilish. God bless you.
I wasn’t responding with anger, just trying to understand why you seemed angry. They’re just doing their jobs trying to get everyone to go back home, because everyone needs to be home right now. I don’t know why that made you respond in the way you did. That’s all.
What part of this is. OK!
Ladies & Gentlemen,
This evening, Governor Kemp released an Executive Order and the Parks Division has presented further direction simultaneously outlying the new Shelter in Place. There are many details, but in summary State Park & Historic Site Day Use Areas & Trails are considered Essential Services by “engaging in outdoor exercise”.
We will continue to offer clean bathrooms, phone service and online programming. Tomorrow, Clint and I will roll out a few new fliers (as directed) for the kiosk, trailheads and VC doors. We are aware that people from out of county, out of state may be out of policy (by directive), but it is not our job to police their entry. Also, we will continue to honor/accept cottage, fishing and turkey hunt (Spring/Quota) reservations.
Folks – our parks look great. The maintenance crew is doing an outstanding job keeping the parks looking sharp, our clerks and docents are serving our visitors & frontlines with supreme customer service. The online programs are a huge hit and our cottages look wonderful thanks to a passionate housekeeping crew.
I am more than ever thankful to be part of this team. As always, please let me know if you have any questions,
Will
