Flowery Branch – A moped driver who was stuck near Flowery Branch High School died from his injuries Wednesday, 13 days after the accident, according to Hall County Sheriff’s Office officials.

36-year-old Christopher Lee Powell was struck by a vehicle the morning of May 4 as he was stopped on Credit Drive to turn onto Hog Mountain Road, according to Hall County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman BJ Williams.

A preliminary investigation determined the driver of the vehicle, William Emory Olmstead, age 41, of Cleveland, turned left onto Hog Mountain Road into the wrong lane of Credit Drive where Powell was stopped on his moped.

Powell was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition and he later died.

Charges against Olstead are pending and the case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit, Williams said.
