DAHLONEGA – University of North Georgia head women’s basketball coach Buffie Burson has announced the addition of four players to the 2018 signing class Wednesday afternoon.

“We are excited to announce the signing of four outstanding student-athletes to our program!” said Burson. “We purposely sought after players who are passionate about the game and know how to win. We believe these four young ladies are great teammates, all bringing different things to the table, and they all can step in and contribute immediately to an already veteran squad. The Nighthawk Nation will really love watching these exciting players hit the floor.”

Abby Hubert is a 5’11 junior guard from Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tennessee, and played for Coach Evelyn Thompson. Abby was the leading scorer in the TCCAA averaging 20.4 points per game and was 11th overall in the nation in scoring, while shooting over 47% from the field, 37% from the three point line and pulling down five rebounds and two steals a game. She was named a two time All-Region selection for CSCC and most recently named a NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention.

“Abby is a proven scorer, leading Tennessee’s JUCO league in scoring,” said Burson. “She can score in a variety of ways which will make her a dangerous player in the Peach Belt Conference. She brings speed and athleticism and will really fit into our pace of play on offense. She also has the size to be a great rebounder and defender on the perimeter. Her experience should make her an immediate impact player and we are thrilled to have her join our UNG family.”

Faith Arthur is a six-foot freshman guard/forward from River Ridge High School in Woodstock, Georgia, and played for Coach Jason Taylor. Faith averaged over 13 points and eight rebounds while leading her team to the Sweet Sixteen and being named First Team All-Region for 2 years. She was also a Two Time Cherokee Tribune First Team selection and most recently inducted into the Cherokee County Hall of Fame.

“Faith has the ability to play every position on the floor,” stated Burson. “She has great floor vision and can score from anywhere. She also has a very high basketball IQ which shows through her love for the game. We are excited about the fact that her versatility will allow us to really open up the playbook. We think Nighthawk fans are in for a real treat with Faith!”

Daimaya McPherson is a six-foot freshman forward from McEachern High School in Marietta, Georgia, and played for coaching legend Phyllis Arthur. Daimaya helped lead her high school team to three State Championship titles. She received Player of the Week honors and won Most Resilience Award, Best Sportsmanship, Toughest Player Award and Captain Award during her time at McEachern.

“Daimaya is an aggressive post player who can defend and rebound with the best,” said Burson. “She also has great touch around the basket yet has capability to score from the perimeter. We love the toughness she brings to the floor and the fact she flat out knows how to win. We look for her to bring much needed depth in the post. We can’t wait to see Daimaya in the blue and white!”

Livia Skinner is a 5’9 freshman guard from Armuchee High School in Rome, Georgia, and played for Coach Michelle Arp. Livia is a three time All Region selection and a two time AJC All-State Selection. She was also twice named to the Rome News Tribune Team and named the Rome Player of the Year. She scored her 1,000th point as a junior while also breaking the school record for steals in a season. She most recently played in the NWGA Senior All-Star Game and GACA North/South game.

“Livia is a tough all around player,” said Burson. “She’s a fierce competitor who can really pass, get to the rim in traffic and has a very quick shot from behind the arc. She’s also an excellent defender with a great feel for the game. We are excited to have Livia join our program!”
