(Cleveland)- The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that the unemployment rate in White County eased up two tenths of a percentage point in December.  Figures released show the unemployment rate for the county was 6 percent, that is up from the November revised rate of 5.8 percent.

In December the labor force for the county was 13,066, of those 12,276 were employed while 790 people were unemployed. The Georgia Mountains region December rate was 5.5 percent, unchanged from  November.

The Labor Department said most of the increase in the county rate was the result of seasonal temporary layoffs in manufacturing and construction, administrative and support services and accommodations and food services.
