Local – An early morning fire in southern White County today resulted in no injuries according to an email from Anna Newberry, spokesperson for White County Fire Services.

The email informed that at 4:30am Wednesday morning, White County firefighters along with City of Cleveland and firefighters from Lee Arrendale State Prison, were dispatched to a house fire on Ricky West Road in Cleveland.

The homeowner made the call to the  9-1-1 Center and informed them about the fire but that the house was already heavily involved and that he was the only occupant.  The homeowner also stated that he suspects the blaze may have started in the chimney and spread quickly through the home, according to the email.

Newberry stated, the fire is currently under investigation by the White County Fire Investigator,  however, it is not deemed suspicious, and no injuries were reported.   The White County CERT REHAB truck was called to the scene to assist firefighters as well as the American Red Cross, however assistance was declined by the homeowner.

Firefighters were on scene for 5 ½ hours and fire personnel will continue to check on the property throughout the day to check for hot spots.
