YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Tamera Thorpe scored a game high 17 points in just 26 minutes of action as the No. 20 University of North Georgia women’s basketball team blew past Young Harris, 70-42, Wednesday night.

Julianne Sutton scored a layup six seconds into the matchup to kick start a 10-0 run for UNG, a lead that was never relinquished. The Mountain Lions cut the lead to seven near the end of the first quarter, but the Nighthawks pushed the lead into double digits right before the end of the first and kept it there throughout the rest of the night.

NOTES
– Thorpe finished a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the contest. Amber Skidgel added 11 points, while Abbie Franklin and Imani Arnold each contributed 10.

– UNG held the Mountain Lions’ leading scorer, Pamela Diokpara, to just nine points in the contest.

– The Nighthawks shot 22-of-50 (44%) from the floor, including 9-for-16 from distance. Young Harris shot just 14-for-68 in the game.
