The Truett-McConnell Men’s Basketball team has now won 6 straight games, tying the school record, thanks to a 101-42 win over Toccoa Falls College Tuesday night in Cleveland, GA. The 59-point margin win was the greatest margin of victory in school history (as a four-year NAIA institution). 42 points allowed was also the third lowest total allowed in school history. The Bears are now 11-2 on the season and 5-2 in AAC play.

The Bears jumped out to an early 32-5 lead with 12:38 remaining in the half thanks to hot play from Myles Monroe and Mario Westbrooks. The Bears were able to use their bench effectively for the rest of the 1st half, and were able to take a 56-17 lead into the locker room thanks to Will South‘s last second shot.

Solid play from the starters in the 2nd half, and back-to-back 3-pointers from Christian Davis helped the Bears push their lead to 68-22 with 15:21 left in the game. Solid bench play from Stephen Stuart and Eddie Hurst, as the score was 92-31 with just over 6 minutes left in the ballgame. TJ Rose and TJ Goodrum provided solid play off the bench in the final 6 minutes to help the Bears win by a final of 101-42. Matthew McDonough also provided 2 points off the bench, and a season high 7 rebounds. Filipe Goncalves led the way offensively for TMU scoring a season high of 16 points.

Head Coach Jon Yeh provided the following statement after the game: “Our starters got us off to a great start, and we were able to keep things rolling the rest of the game. Myles had a really nice bounce back game and shot the ball with confidence, especially early. Toccoa Falls is a little short-handed right now, and with our depth we were able to wear them down. It was a great start to a three-game week. We’ll try to keep things going this weekend at our tournament.”
Both teams joined in the Heroes Sports League game as a combined ministry event after the game.

Tuesday’s NAIA Division 2 national poll has the Bears receiving votes for the top 25. This is the first time in school history that the men’s basketball team has received votes in a national ranking.
The Bears will be back in action this weekend, as they will host their own tournament in The Bear Cave this Friday and Saturday, December 15th and 16th
