NIOTA, Tennessee | The Truett McConnell women’s golf team shot a 341 in the first round of the Tennessee Wesleyan Invitational, good enough for third place after the first day of competition at Springbrook Golf and Country Club Monday.

St. Andrews is in first place with a 315, led by Lydia Randell’s 72. Tennessee Wesleyan is in second, seven strokes better than TMU. The Bears are three strokes ahead of Union and five better than Snead, who sits in fifth place.

Ashley Blackburn led the way for the Bears with an 83, and Kayla Chapman finished with an 84. Blackburn is tied for eighth and Chapman is tied for 11th.

The final round will be contested tomorrow, with the Bears teeing off in the final groups of the day.
