(Cleveland)- White County School Nutrition has announced that they are able to serve free meals to all children in White County.  This includes both breakfast and lunch meals.

White County School Nutrition Director Abby Rowland said the United States Department of Agriculture has extended the opportunity to serve free meals to students that were approved at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest phase of the program officially began yesterday, but all meals served since the first of the month will be credited back to student accounts.

Rowland encourages parents to continue to fill out the free and reduced meal forms. ” Because that information is used in other programs. For Title One funding, for E-Rate funding that helps with technology funds, various grants that we apply for, all those programs use that free and reduced information,” says Rowland.

According to Rowland if your child is not attending school in person, you can still get free food. She said, ” if you have a child age 2-18 who is at home you can report to any of our schools between 11 AM and 12 Noon.  If you will go to the back of the school and ring the bell at the back kitchen door the manager will greet you, you tell them how many children’s meals you need.”

This is a temporary program and Rowland said it will be in effect until the end of the year.  For more details, you can contact Rowland at 706-865-2315
