ROME, Ga. – Brittany Truitt had two second-place finishes as the University of North Georgia track & field team finished in sixth in the season-opening Victor Icebreaker Duals at Berry College Saturday.

Truitt finished second in the 1500 and 800 meter races, finishing nine seconds behing the leader in the 1500 and five seconds back in the 800 meter race. In the 1500 meter, Emily Sims finished third, while Tori Rives claimed points for the Nighthawks in seventh place. Emma Brown also earned points in the 800 meter race in seventh place.

Aleah Johnson earned a third-place finish in the 400 meter dash, running a 59.04 in the one-lap race. Sarah Buckler and Bree Hammond finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

The Nighthawks’ relay teams also performed well in the meet, finishing in fourth in the 4×400 meter relay and fifth in the 4×100 meter race.

UNG will next hit the track next weekend at the Gamecock Invitational in Oxford, Alabama.
