DAHLONEGA – Julianne Sutton finished with a career-high 16 points on 7-8 shooting as the University of North Georgia women’s basketball team improved to 3-0 Tuesday night with a win over Fort Valley State, 94-37.

The Nighthawks opened the game on a 10-0 run and led by 36 at the break. North Georgia put 14 of the 15 players that played in the scoring column in the win.

NOTES
– Sutton was a perfect 6-6 in the first half as she led all scorers in the contest. Her 7-8 (.875) night puts her in second place for field goal percentage for a single game in the program’s NCAA-era history. She also finished one rebound short of her first collegiate double-double in her 16 minutes of play.

– The Nighthawks assisted on 22 of the 36 made baskets. Five UNG players finished with three assists.

– Mackenzie Darrah and Deana Blankenship finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

– UNG outscored FVSU, 46-10, in the paint.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will host the UNG Nighthawk Classic on Friday and Saturday. Georgia College will play Barton in the first game of the classic Friday at 4 p.m., and UNG will take on Carson-Newman at a scheduled 6 p.m. tipoff.
