KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After three tightly contested doubles matches, Tusculum pulled away in singles competition to down the No. 22 University of North Georgia women’s tennis team, 7-2, Saturday. The Nighthawks are now 3-1.

All three doubles matches had to go to at least a ninth point for the winning duo. Cibeles Zuddy and Adrienne Bofingerwon at No. 3 doubles, but the Pioneers took the other two doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead headed into singles.

After Tusculum took the first two singles matches at No. 1 and No. 3, Zuddy kept the Nighthawks alive at No. 5 with a three-set win over Africa Mota. The Pioneers, though, won the final three matches to earn their fourth win of the season.

The Nighthawks will have a quick turnaround as they take on Carson-Newman tomorrow afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park. First serve for both the men and women will be at 1:30 p.m.
