AIKEN, S.C. – The University of North Georgia women’s tennis team won its fourth straight match Sunday by defeating USC Aiken, 6-3, in Peach Belt Conference action.
Holly Bennett and Felicia Baratta got things started with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, and Adrienne Bofinger and Lexa Loden won a 9-7 match at No. 3 doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles action. In singles play, UNG clinched the first three points to secure the win. Bofinger, Bennett and Vaishali Jorge earned the wins at Nos. 2, 3 and 4, respectively. After a third-set tiebreak went in the Pacers’ favor at No. 1 singles, Judita Barrios won a three-set thriller after falling in the opening set, 6-0. UNG will take on Lenoir-Rhyne in Dahlonega on Tuesday with first serve set for 1 p.m. at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park. North Georgia 6, USC Aiken 3 DOUBLES |
