DAHLONEGA – Final preparations are in place for the University of North Georgia women’s soccer team regular season finale to be broadcast nationally tomorrow (Oct. 27) as part of the NCAA Division II showcase. The Nighthawks will entertain No. 3 Columbus State at 6:05 p.m. at the UNG Soccer Complex in Peach Belt Conference action.

UNG is the first school in Division II to host nationally-broadcast matchups in five sports as part of the NCAA media agreement. North Georgia hosted ESPN3 back in 2015 on Make-A-Wish Day with the softball team taking on Georgia College and the baseball team playing host to Anderson. On January 9, 2019, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will host Columbus State with ESPN3 broadcasting the games live from the UNG Convocation Center.

The game’s kickoff time will be moved back to 6:05 p.m. and will be live streamed through the NCAA Division II’s Twitter (@NCAADII) and Facebook Live pages. The game will also be posted on the Peach Belt Conference, Columbus State and North Georgia Facebook pages. Niles Media Group will produce the broadcast, giving viewers four different angles throughout the UNG Soccer Complex.

This fall, Division II launched a new regular season media agreement that consists of 11 football games, 18 basketball games and 6-10 other sports being distributed in a hybrid model that could consist of local TV and online distribution.

Colorado School of Mines hosted Colorado Mesa on Oct. 19 in men’s soccer as part of the Showcase Package. The only other non-football broadcast of the fall featured No. 23 Lewis hosting No. 14 Rockhurst in volleyball on Oct. 20.
