DAHLONEGA – Powered by a four-run outburst in the first, the University of North Georgia baseball team defeated the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks, 7-1, Wednesday night at Bob Stein Stadium.

North Georgia scored four runs off four hits and three errors made by the AUM defense in the first. Chase Sudduth dented the score board first with his RBI single up the middle to score Josh Profit, who reached on an error. Andres Perez‘s two-run homer over left, his 17th of the season, extended the lead to 3-0. Nick Clarno added to the offensive onslaught later on and tacked on an RBI single of his own to get the first frame 4-0 lead.

After a two-run homer from Clarno in the third extended the lead to 6-0, the Warhawks made an effort to fight back in the fifth. A single from Jonathon Brandt and a walk issued to Parker Moman put runners on the corners for Auburn Montgomery’s Logan Nix, whose single to center scored the only run of the contest for the War Hawks.

The Nighthawks pushed their final run across in the sixth. William Mapes doubled off the wall in left to put another runner in scoring position for UNG, and another RBI single from Sudduth finished the contest at 7-1.
