(Cleveland)- A symbolic tree cutting ceremony was held at Truett McConnell College in Cleveland Friday morning to kick off the clearing of property for the future George Blaurock Student  Recreation Center on the campus.  The recreation center represents  the largest capital project ever undertaken in the history of the college.

The 69,000 sq. ft. building, which will be know as  The Rock and located  next to the presidents home, will also be the largest building on the campus in Cleveland.

College President Dr. Emir Caner President said, this is a dream that has become a reality,   “ it’s a long arduous attempt that has finally come where our students not only have the dorms they deserve and the academia they deserve  but  now they’re going to have the student rec center that proves to be a bridge not only to another academic building but of course what we hope to be the highlight of this building project which is going to be our chapel,  “ said Caner.

Ground breaking for the facility is expected later this year and when completed will available for student and the community to use.  The school is currently in a funding campaign for the $13-million dollar project and the school is accepting in kind as well as pledge donations in the construction of the facility.
