(CLEVELAND) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University women’s basketball team matched up with Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, St. Andrews University, where they bested the Knights, 65-47. The Lady Bears rose to 14-10, 10-8 AAC, while the Knights fell to 0-19, 0-18 AAC.

In the first quarter, the Knights gained momentum first and took their only lead of the game. The Lady Bears struck back with two free throws from Camilla CallihanAlysee Dobbs and a jumper from Sydney Rumble. After TMU fought the whole quarter, they came out ahead (19-13) going into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Bears created a large deficit with a layup from Re’Tavia Floyd, followed by a shot from behind the three-point arc. Layups from Callihan and Rumble sent TMU into the half ahead by seven (29-22).
 
In the third quarter, three pointers from Sydnie Smith and two from Floyd gave a nine-point advantage over the Knights. A layup from Kacie Williams and Dobbs continued to add to the deficit. Two free throws sent the Lady Bears into the third quarter with a score of 48-33. In the final quarter, Callihan continued to drop points, followed by a layup from Mieyana Milner. A jumper from Milner and a layup from Williams increased the gap to 18 points. The Lady Bears finished with a final score of 65-47 over the Knights.
 
LEADERS
Callihan led the way with 18 points, going 5-8 at the free throw line, and tallying eight rebounds. Floyd followed with 16 points, going 6-12 from within the paint. Williams recorded eight points, going 4-6 from within the paint, and contributing five rebounds. Rumble had six points herself, going 3-10 from within the paint. Dobbs had six points as well, going 4-4 at the free throw line, and adding five rebounds.
