(CLEVELAND, Ga.) – On Friday, the first NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll of the year was released, featuring the Truett McConnell University men’s and women’s golf teams ranked in the top 10 teams in the nation. The Bears are currently sitting at No. 5 on the men’s side and the Lady Bears are currently sitting at No. 7 on the women’s side.

“This is such an incredible honor for our golf programs at TMU! I can vividly remember dreaming about having two programs ranked in the top 10 nationally, and to have it happen on the same week makes it even sweeter,” said Director of Golf Steve Patton.

This is the first time in TMU Golf history that both teams have ever been ranked in the top 10 in the nation, along with this being the first time in TMU history that an athletic team has been ranked in the top five in the nation.

The TMU men’s golf team reached a program high ranking at No. 13 after finishing their 2022-23 season in 13th at the NAIA National Championships, while the TMU women’s golf team earned their highest ranking of No.14 this past fall after performing at a high level and besting many of the top teams in the nation.

“We have been building something special now for several years and our goal is to sustain this success each year. I want to thank all the players, past and present, for helping us reach this milestone.  Their commitment to excellence, on and off the course, has made all the difference. It is incredible what teams can accomplish when they love each other and play for each other.  Both teams are a testament to that!”
