This past Saturday, October 7th, 2017, the Truett McConnell University Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams traveled down to Orlando, FL, to compete in the Disney Cross Country Classic.
With 15 total colleges and universities in attendance and a total of 227 women runners, the Women’s Cross Country team would finish 7th overall out of 15 teams at the Disney Cross Country Classic. Ivie Nobles finished in the front of the pack at 46th overall individually for the Lady Bears with a time of 19:55 and a 6:24 average mile pace. Haleigh Martin finished right behind her at 51st overall with a time of 20:03 and a 6:26 average mile pace.
The Men’s Cross Country team would place 12th overall out of 14 teams in Orlando on Saturday. Juan Ortegawould finish in front of the pack of 158 total runners at 28th overall with a total time of 27:48 and a 5:35 average mile pace. Two minutes behind Ortega, Jose Santana finished an overall time of 29:55 and an average mile pace of 6:01.
Both the Women’s and Men’s Cross Country teams will prepare this week as they get ready to travel to Gettsyburg, PA to compete in the Gettsyburg Invitational.
