White County Sheriff Rick Kelley signs qualifying papers to seek another term

(Cleveland)- The first day of qualifying for potential candidates seeking political offices in the  May 21 General Primary Election saw a large number of incumbent officeholders signing up to seek another term.

According to Republican Party officials nine people qualified Monday. Cindy Cannon, Tax Commissioners was the first to qualify. Other signing up include Dena Adams, Clerk of Court, Charlie Thomas, Board of Education, Don Ferguson Probate Judge, Travis Turner Chair of Board of Commissions, Terry Goodger District 1 Commissioner, Rick Kelley, Sheriff, and Ricky Barrett, Corner.  All those are incumbents.

Barry Vandiver, qualified for Board of Commissioners District four.  John Estes, a Board of Education Member picked up his qualifying papers from party officials and is expected to qualify later this week.

Amie Veater, White County Elections Supervisor reported that Nonpartisan candidate Corey Dean Hyde qualified for reelection as Chief Magistrate Judge.

Party officials will be accepting candidates qualifying through Thursday from 9 AM until four PM and Friday from 9 AM until 12 noon at the Elections and Registration Office in the Mauney Building, on the Helen Highway north of Cleveland.
