Weather-10-8-14(Sautee)- A fast-moving line of severe thunderstorms moved across Georgia Wednesday night producing heavy rains, hail, high winds and frequent lightning. At one point over 1 thousand lightning strikes were recorded in a 15-minute period along the line.

WRWH Weather Reporter Bill Kinsland  advised,  here in White County, the storms thundered into the area shortly after 10 PM, producing sharp lightning, high winds and very heavy rainfall. Overall around three-quarters to 1 inch of rainfall fell across the county.   According to Bill,  these storms were triggered by a strong cold front stretched out from the Great Lakes down across the South to Texas. A deep low over the Upper Midwest pulled  moisture up from the Gulf of Mexico along the cold front, setting off thunderstorms out in front of it.

Bill also advises, as the cold front passes through the area, it will keep local temperatures within seasonal limits and slightly chilly as we get into the weekend. Early morning low temperatures will gradually slide from the low 40’s tonight to the low 30’s over the weekend. Skies will be sunny until the middle of next week when we expect chances of rain to return.
