SAVANNAH, Ga. (March 23, 2019) – Junior Matt Smith led the No. 14 Truett McConnell University men’s golf team to a third-place finish earning a spot on the All-Tournament team at the Clash at Crosswinds hosted by SCAD-Atlanta on Friday and Saturday. The Bears (605) defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference foes Milligan College (619), Reinhardt University (623) and SCAD-Atlanta (631).
Smith overall placed third individually after carding a 75 through the first 18 holes and a 72 through the second round. Two more Bears finished in the top 10; fellow junior Dawson Day tied in eighth (74, 77) while freshman Jhett Lewis tied in 10th (74, 78).
Another junior, Luke Peavy, tied in 21st (80, 75) and senior David Ford placed 48th (82, 81).
Up next, the Bears have the AAC Spring Championships on Monday, April 8 – Tuesday, April 9.
