(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. ) – On Friday, the Truett McConnell University wrestling team traveled up north to wrestle No. 19 Thomas More University for their opening dual of the season. The Bears matched up well against the Saints, but ultimately fell short in the final match-up of the day with a final score of 30-19.

Most notable, freshman Frankie Salcedo made his debut as a Bear with a hard fought 5-2 decision win over Thomas More in the 141 weight class. Fellow freshman Spencer fields had a stellar performance in the 165 weight class with a major decision win of 15-4. No. 24 Hans Evatt secured his first pin of the season in the 184 weight class (Fall 2:49), while No. 22 Nolan Cook records fall of his own in the 197 weight class (Fall 3:49). 

Up next, the Bears remain on the road as they compete in the Patriot Open on Saturday, Nov. 5, hosted by the University of the Cumberlands.
