Sports – It was another back-and-forth battle for the Warriors last night on their home field against the Pickens County Dragons.
The Dragons were first on the scoreboard, but Hayden Vandigrift would put Warriors ahead with a successful PAT following White County’s Tripp Nix’s first touchdown of the evening. Ryan Fowler would help push the Warriors further ahead with a second touchdown only 4 minutes later.
The Dragons fought hard to pull ahead and head into halftime with a score of 27 to 19 for Pickens.
It would remain a hither-and-thither battle with missed PATs by both teams for the remainder of the game. Ryan Fowler would make a second touchdown at the start of the third, but a 2-point conversion would fail.
A recovery by the Warriors kept hope alive to keep the Dragons down into the fourth. The Warriors kept pushing and would score twice more nearly tying the game but one more failed conversion led to a final score of 39-37 Dragons.
White County will have to win their game next week against Gilmer County in order to gain a spot in the playoffs. Be sure to tune in for all the action here on WRWH.
