AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of North Georgia cross country team placed nine runners on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team as announced by the league office
Wednesday morning. North Georgia and Georgia College led the conference with nine honorees each.
Sarah Buckler, Maria Coughlin, Makayla Ellis, Aleah Johnson, Jenna Sanborn, Emily Sims, Kim Toscano, Brittany Truittand Andie Whitfield were the Nighthawks named to the 46-player team.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
The Nighthawks will compete in the Peach Belt Conference Championship on Saturday, October 21, at Fort Benning, Georgia. The 6K race is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
