(Cleveland)- Georgia Department of Transportation initiated the road changes south of Cleveland around midday Wednesday and in a short period of time traffic was traveling on the new lanes.
Crews immediately closed Donald Thurmond Parkway at State Route 11/US 129 requiring traffic to access Walmart and Advance Auto Parts by turning from SR 11/Main Street onto Old Highway 75 then onto Donald Thurmond Parkway.
Harold Mull, Georgia DOT District Construction Engineer said, “The grade of Donald Thurmond Parkway will be raised by 12 feet. Traffic cannot continue to use the roadway as the work occurs.”
By late after traffic was moving smoothly on the new lanes.
