Cleveland — The National Guard spent several hours today at Friendship Health and Rehab sanitizing and deep cleaning. Beginning at 9 am the team worked together to clean all surfaces and test residence and staff members.

Anne Marie Wingate, Facility Director, spoke with Local News Radio and said everyone is doing really well and the sanitizing went as planned.

Wingate said that no visitors are allowed at this time but families are able to use Facetime to keep in touch with loved ones. They are also using Telemed in order to keep the residence safe.

Employees are getting their temperature checked each day, wearing masks and sanitizing throughout the day. The facility also has isolation units if needed.

Wingate added, “Everything gets sanitized before being brought into the facility.”

In total, 19 residents and 15 staff members were tested, with only 1 positive case in a staff member who had not been working at the facility for over 2 weeks. No residents tested positive.

David Murphy, Public Safety Director said in an email statement that the National Guard may test the entire facility but they are awaiting decision also saying that one of the concerns with the facility is that they are low on PPE gowns and are currently unable to receive from the Strategic National Stockpile.
