(Cleveland)- A building that once housed the West Family Restaurant and Western Sizzlin Restaurant between Cleveland and Helen has been transformed into the beautiful new central office for Mountain Education Charter High School, which is an evening, self –paced, high school for students wanting to get their high school diploma.  Classes are held in the afternoon and evening hours.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility was held Thursday and Tracy Sanford, Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Development says this office is the hub of operation for the 15 counties they serve in Northeast Georgia.

“ Through the 15 different counties we have touched over  35,000 students that have been a part of our collaborative  efforts, over 5,000 students have graduated with us, but over 35, 000 have either come and taken a class  and went back to their base high school  to graduate etc, so we’ve touched the lives of a lot of students that would have fallen through the cracks possibly if we were not here,” commented  Sanford.

According to Sanford, there will be an additional open house for the public to come see the facility and find out about their mission.  The public open house is scheduled for Saturday, September 29th from 10 AM until 1 PM.
