(CLEVELAND)- The Truett McConnell University men’s soccer team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Milligan University, where an early lead from the Bears proved not enough as TMU fell 4-1. The Bears fall to a record of 6-3-2, 3-3-1 AAC, while the Buffaloes rise to a record of 4-2-3, 4-1-1 AAC.

PLAY BY PLAY

In the first period, the Bears were hot out of the gates with an aggressive offense. A shot on goal from Oscar Brennan and Ivan Serubiri paved the way for TMU’s lone goal of the day from Will Fraser-Gray, assisted by Hendrik Metje, in the 15th minute (1-0). The Buffaloes worked quickly with their first goal coming in the 36th minute off a penalty kick to even the score (1-1).

In the second period, the Buffaloes scored their second and third goal in the first ten minutes of play (1-3). The Bears worked under pressure against an aggressive Milligan offense, with the Buffaloes scoring their fourth goal in the 70th minute (1-4). A shot on goal from Max Farris, followed by a shot wide provided hope. Ultimately, a blocked shot from Maury Ibarra left the Bears to fall 1-4.

LEADERS

Most notable, Keeper Daniel Santema recorded 10 saves on the day. Will Fraser-Gray led the way with two shots, one on goal, and one goal. Farris followed with four shots, two on goal.
