3/3/17

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of North Georgia junior Matt Elliott was named the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday. Elliott was the low PBC finisher at the Pirate Invitational with rounds of 71-76-70 for a one-over-par 217.

The Wilkesboro, North Carolina native was just three shots out of second place and finished two ahead of Clayton State’s Andres Caballero and Young Harris’ Ely Crumley. His opening-round 71 was one of only two rounds under par on the first 18 holes and his final-round 70 was third-lowest of the day. With the result, Elliott had his third top-five and fifth top-10 finish of the season. The field at the Pirate Invitational featured seven PBC teams. He is now sixth in the PBC with a 72.26 stroke average.

The men’s golf team will return to action in three and a half weeks at the Lander Bearcat Spring Invitational at the Greenwood Country Club in the Palmetto State on March 27-28.
