(Cleveland)- A few White County voters participated in the primary runoff election held  Tuesday  for the northern part of the county.  Those areas are included in the State House, District 8, along with Rabun, Towns and Union Counties.  Matt Gurtler and Kent Woerner were the two top voter getters from the May 24th primary and met in the runoff.  

Gurtler was the big winner rounding up 60 percent of the votes compared to 39 percent for Woerner.  In White County Gurtler received 154 votes to Woerner’s 109.

 

Other primary runoff contest decided yesterday included;  in Lumpkin County Mera Turner was the winner in the Board of Education race, beating Catherine Ariemma.   Jim Sheppard was a big winner in the Corner’s contest besting Amanda Jones  79 to 20 percent and  Bobby Mayfield beat incumbent  Steve Shaw for  County Commission  District 2 seat. 

In Dawson County Jeff Johnson edged out Tony Wooten in the sheriff’s race and Nicole Stewart was the winner in the Tax Commissioners race beat Andi Henson Juliette. 

And in Banks County  Mark Savage beat incumbent Bobby Eubanks for Corner and Keith Gardiner edged  Helen Hewell  for  Probate Court Judge.
