(Cleveland)- We’re just six weeks away from election day and today is National Voter Registration Day, a day set aside to make citizens aware if they are not registered to vote now is the time to do so. With a historic presidential election approaching, every eligible American voter should exercise his or her right to vote.

White County Chief Voter Registrar Lisa Manning says if you want to register its easy, many people get registered when they get or update their driver’s license. “ when they update the license they automatically send us the information and we register you to vote,” said Manning.

“ I like to tell people if you are going to do it that way to make sure to tell the people at the DDS that you want to register to vote and make sure they send it to us and check with us. Give us a couple of weeks and then call and check with us to make sure that we got the information. Because even though we do have motor- voter and you can register to vote through DDS sometimes that information doesn’t get to us and if it doesn’t get to us you don’t get registered. Because we are the ones that register you to vote, ” commented Manning.

Manning said you can also go to any library to register or simply stop by her office located in the Mauney Building on the Helen Highway.  According to Manning the last day to register for the upcoming election is October 5th.  If you haven’t voted in a while and you want to check your registration status you can go online to https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do.
