(Sautee)- The annual Empty Bowls fundraising lunch to benefit White County Food Pantry will be held Monday, March 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Sautee Nacoochee Center’s Community Hall. This event raised over $3,200 for the White County Food Pantry last year by contributions at the door.

Nancy Duggan, who has organized this event at Sautee Nachoochee Center for several years passed away in December. The decision was made to continue holding Empty Bowls in her memory. Nancy, a talented clay artist, encouraged other potters to create and donate the bowls used for this special fundraising luncheon.

The event is supported by donations from local potters and local restaurants and businesses. Soup, cornbread, and other items for the meal are Made possible by Bigg Daddy’s Restaurant & Tavern, Clyde’s Table & Tavern, Elohee Retreat Center, Fenders Diner, Ingles Market, Jumpin’ Goat Coffee Roasters, Mully’s Nacoochee Grill, Nora Mill Granary, North Georgia Barbecue, the Old Sautee Store & Market, Rib Country, Unicoi Preserves and Sheilah Welsch. Donations, by either cash or check, support the work of the White County Food Pantry.

To further the fundraising effort, an Empty Bowls Cozies Workshop is being held at SNC on Friday, February 23. Folks can make microwavable cozies that will be sold at the March 4th lunch. Learn more about the workshop at snca.org. Those attending Empty Bowls are asked to consider donating other items needed by the food pantry such as soap, deodorant, toilet paper, toothpaste and brushes, and laundry detergent.
