Mr. Charles Cleveland Burt, age 91, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
Mr. Burt was born in Dawson County on October 11, 1930, to the late Ernest N. and Artie Mae Bearden Burt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Betty Jo Burt Mooney, and nephews Justin Alex Henderson and Christopher Burt Henderson. Mr. Burt was a long-haul truck driver for more than 60 years, seeing much of America as he delivered goods all across the country. He was recognized for logging more than two million miles at one point in his career but he added many more miles behind that. He loved mowing his grass and blowing the leaves, as it gave him so much enjoyment. Mr. Burt loved to cook and spend time with his nephews. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Mr. Burt had no children of his own, but he was a father figure to many.
Survivors include his sisters Joan Burt Henderson, Dahlonega, Carlene Burt Henderson, Cumming, Freida Burt Talley (Emmitt), Alexandria, Virginia, and Wanda Burt Mauldin, Cumming; and nephews Jason Henderson, Tim Clark, Jerry Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Marvin Anderson, and Randy Talley.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Sawnee View Gardens. Pastor T.R. Myers will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
