(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University men’s volleyball team opened their 2022 season Friday, where they faced Carolina University, inside the TMU Volleyball/Wrestling Arena. The Bears battled through three sets, ultimately falling to the Bruins 25-12, 25-14, 25-15.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

The first set saw Carolina ahead at the start (1-4), but the Bears worked to close the gap with a kill from Kaleb Mitchell and block by Owen Nobles (3-4). The Bruins gained momentum to take multiple strong leads, forcing TMU play under pressure. A final kill by Mitchell and Jackson Adams proved not enough as Carolina stole the first set (25-12). Set two continued to see the Bruins gain speed, while two back to back Nathan Hill kills left the score 25-14. The Bears fought back in the third and final set, featuring back to back kills from Hill and Wensky Saintilmond (4-6). A Mitchell kill and Adams kill bridged the gap (8-8), but a final burst from the Bruins left TMU down 25-15.

LEADERS

Hill led the way with six kills, while Mitchell had five kills and 12 digs. Adams recorded four kills and eight digs, followed by Saintilmond who had two kills and 16 assists.
