A North Georgia YMCA camp was responsible for a COVID-19 outbreak in June and a new report released yesterday by the CDC now says it affected as many as 260 people. That figure more than tripled since an earlier report released a few weeks ago. This was one of the largest super-spreading events in the state, according to the AJC.

In an AJC report published on July 5th, The Georgia Department of Public Health saw an increase of COVID-19 cases in staff and children who had recently attended the YMCA camp. There were a reported 30 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at YMCA camps at Lake Burton and Lake Allatoona. As of July 10, about 85 cases were linked to the location in Lake Burton.

With that in mind lets take a look at the newest numbers released by the Georgia Department of Public Health. White County has 299 confirmed cases of coronavirus with a total of 5 deaths related to the virus.

In surrounding counties; Hall County has 5,482 cases with 79 deaths, Habersham County 1,026 cases, and 48 deaths. Lumpkin County 301 confirmed cases with 6 deaths Union County 205 cases 6 deaths and Towns County 111 cases with one death related to the virus.
